Environmental Assessment Training Series Open for Registration
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Environmental Assessment Training Series (EATS) is open for registration. These free, self-guided, virtual courses address the role of environmental assessments in the broader context of foodborne illness outbreak investigations and the food safety system. Regulatory environmental health professionals and food safety program officials will learn and practice concepts, key skills, and steps for environmental assessments of restaurants implicated in an outbreak, including:
- Interviewing food workers,
- Collecting environmental samples, and
- Determining how and why germs got into the environment and spread.
Participants will then have the opportunity to practice applying these skills in multiple outbreak scenarios, including:
- Private school
- Local catering establishment,
- Grower and distributor of organic herbs, and,
- Cheese manufacturer.
CEUs are available for successful completion of the training courses.
