Root Cause for Retail Food Safety Course
The Association of Food and Drug Officials’ Root Cause for Retail Food Safety course is designed to help regulatory retail food safety inspectors apply root cause analysis concepts to reduce risk factor violation occurrences and enhance foodborne illness outbreak investigations.
After participating in this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and apply appropriate root cause solutions to risk factor violations and foodborne outbreaks.
- Distinguish between when to apply analytical or creative thinking concepts and apply them to solve problems and guide decisions.
- Develop intervention strategies or corrective actions to mitigate the recurrence of food safety incidents.
Root Cause Analysis is a critical part of the food safety problem-solving process. It provides a method for use in understanding how or why food safety incidents occur and what factors contribute. Root Cause Analysis techniques assist in identifying potential causes and determining actual causes.
This virtual course consists of four 4.5-hour sessions with activities and exercises.
