U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 2022 Food Code Adoption Report Released
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) 2022 Food Code adoption report has been released. This report offers insight into the version of the FDA Food Code adopted by each state and territorial regulatory agency based on adoption activities that occurred during the calendar year.
The FDA’s National Retail Food Team monitors the adoption of the FDA Food Code by state and territorial regulatory agencies in the United States responsible for the regulation of restaurants or retail food stores. To compile this report, FDA Retail Food Specialists assessed the Food Code adoption activities within each state and territory for the 2022 calendar year. The Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition analyzed and compiled this information into the final report.
The adoption of the Food Code represents a successful federal/state/ local partnership in improving food safety and signals a commitment to the goal of preventing and reducing the incidence of foodborne illness in retail and food service establishments in the United States.
