Food Code Adoption Map Redesigned and Updated with New Features
The Food Code Adoption Map has been significantly redesigned and updated, providing a visual way to understand which versions of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s model food code have been adopted across the country. With this redesign, the map has been transformed into an interactive dashboard that brings an array of new features, making it an even more powerful tool for promoting public health and supporting the adoption of the most recent versions of the Food Code.
New features:
- Filters: Users can now filter the map data based on the type or number of regulatory agencies operating in each state or territory.
- Improved Visibility: We’ve improved the ability to view and analyze the status of Food Code adoption in the American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia.
- Open Data Access: The updated map offers open access to our data, allowing users to download this data to aid in their own food safety standardization and modernization efforts.
The map data has also been updated to reflect the status of Food Code adoption current to July 2024.
These updates enhance the ability of decision-makers and public health professionals to advocate for the most current, science-based standards in their jurisdiction. The map is part of the Food Code Adoption Toolkit, which together support the Collaborative’s objective to increase the adoption of the most recent editions of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s model food code by state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) regulating bodies.
