Environmental Assessment Training Series (EATS)

The Environmental Assessment Training Series, known as EATS, is a two-part course for environmental health staff who work on outbreak investigations. This training covers the role of environmental assessments in the broader context of outbreak investigations and the food safety system.

Eats is free and can be taken at any time. Participants will:

  • Learn how to identify an outbreak’s environmental causes.
  • Learn how to recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Practice conducting virtual environmental assessments, including identifying the factors that lead to outbreaks.

After completing the training and optional final evaluation, you can earn continuing education units from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
