Food regulatory programs operating at the state, local, tribal, and territorial level who are implementing the Voluntary National Retail Program Standards can participate in the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ (NACCHO) Mentorship Program. According to NACCHO, this program “provides peer-to-peer assistance and intensive technical support to help enforce the standards efficiently and effectively”. This mentorship opportunity would benefit those that are newly enrolled in the Retail Program Standards. Through this program, participating agencies can access advice from experienced retail food regulatory programs to help them get started and best apply the Retail Program Standards, as well as gain insight on developing and implementing policies and procedures, completing self-assessments, and conducting verification audits.
